Hui Ye (b. Guangzhou, China) is a Vienna-based artist and composer who studied music composition as well as TransArts at the university of music and performing arts and the university of applied arts Vienna. Her work encompasses experimental documentary, video, and audio installations, often focusing on the socio-political dimensions of listening and the fluidity of social identity as reflected in technology and sonic culture.
For her two-month residency at Current Plans, she is exploring oral-based rituals, (non-semantic) mantras and spiritual channeling. She will be creating a durational sound performance using AI-modified voice synthesis, reciting incantations with her own voice blending with the tongue of artificiality.
She will be presenting a live performance during Art week, on 26.3.2025 (Tues) and a solo exhibition in April.
