Chris Zhongtian Yuan

Chris Zhongtian Yuan (b. Wuhan) is a London-based artist who graduated from the Architectural Association. Yuan’s practice centres around the notion of “Punk filmmaking”, which recomposes vernacular sonic and spatial materials to examine the boundary amongst critique, care and confabulation. Recent and forthcoming exhibitions include MAC Panama; Kunsthal Rotterdam; Triangolo, Cremona; Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Denmark; Bund Art Center, Shanghai; Galleri Alkov, Stockholm (all in 2025).

During Yuan’s residency at Current Plans, he is exploring local music-based subcultures; domesticity within institutional contexts; and a fictionalised documentation of a pervious script-based performance, all through a series of sonic, filmic and textual experiments.
