Resonant Sounds: A Workshop on Soundscapes in Art Installations 田野錄音應用在聲音裝置的可能

Field recordings encapsulate the essence of a location, capturing human interactions, natural phenomena, and unexpected moments. Through careful editing and mixing, these recordings aim to resurrect specific emotions and narratives, triggering memories and deep associations through the power of sound. 

In the ‘Mass Transit Railway’, Tse utilises speakers with different frequencies and resonant speaker units installed at carefully chosen locations in the exhibition space to recreate the soundscape of Hong Kong through field recordings. In this workshop, the artist will share more about his past field recordings related to urban and natural environments.

There will be a sharing session during the workshop, so if you have field recordings or soundscapes that you would like to play using the exhibition installation, feel free to bring them along. Let’s explore more possibilities in the integration of field recordings through sound installations.

田野錄音紀錄了一個地方的空間感覺、人與自然的活動以及一些隨意偶發性的事件，而應用在錄音上的剪接混音便是為了把特定的感覺與故事重現，透過聲音去喚起記憶與聯想。《地下鐵》展覽中藝術家應用了不同頻率的喇叭單元，以及共振式喇叭單元安裝在展場空間中不同位置，透過多頻道的喇叭發聲裝置去重塑田野錄音所紀錄的香港聲景。是次分享會藝術家會分享更多他以往在香港有關城市與自然的田野錄音，以及他利用聲音素材去混合組成的聲景。
