Grand Narratives: Performance by Monique Yim

Present Projects is pleased to be hosting two performance artists from Per-Platform's #1 Entropy: Arrow of Time~ on Saturday. “Grand Narratives” (2021) Monique Yim Human beings use stories to experience and construct meaningful lives and identities, that means, to understand who they are through stories. Under the Grand Narratives questioned by Jean-François Lyotard, individual stories cannot be seen. Yim (b. 1984, Hong Kong) is an artist, educator and curator. She mainly engages with performance, mixed media, public and community art, as well as film and theatre. Her works largely concern with social, cultural and gender issues. She has participated in over 200 exhibitions, festivals and residency programmes in over 30 cities across Asia, Europe, North America and South America. She was awarded the “Visual Art Performance in Public Space” international prize at Kassak Centre, Europe and was named the finalist for “Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize”. She curated “Performance Art Marathon” in West Kowloon Cultural District. She has been a consultant, guest lecturer, workshop instructor, talk and conference speaker at numerous universities, schools and organisations. Yim obtained her MA in Arts and Cultural Enterprise from Central Saint Martins, UK.

《大敍事》(2021) 嚴穎嘉 人類藉故事來經歷與構成有意義的生命與身份，即是透過故事去理解自己是誰。在被李歐塔質疑的大敘事之下，個體的故事無法被看見。

藝術家簡介 Artist bio: 嚴穎嘉（生於1984年，香港）為藝術家、教育者、策展或策劃人。主要從事行為、混合媒介、公共及社區/社群藝術，亦從事電影及劇場。關注社會、文化、性別等議題。曾於亞洲、歐洲、北美洲及南美洲超過三十個城市逾二百項展覽、藝術節、駐留等展出作品。榮獲歐洲Kassak Centre「公共空間行為藝術國際獎」及入圍「香港人權藝術獎」。曾於西九文化區策劃「行為藝術馬拉松」。曾於眾多院校及機構擔任顧問、客席講師、工作坊導師、講座講者、國際學術研討會議講者。嚴氏於2020年在英國中央聖馬丁學院碩士取得藝術及文化企業文學碩士學位。
